March Check-in
We're in the middle of March, and it felt like a good time to reflect on the past couple of months. One of my biggest wins recently has been focusing on my health. At the beginning of the year, I was pushing 210 lbs, but I'm currently down to 181 lbs. It feels great to make consistent progress. Getting healthy is such an easy, straightforward goal where you have total control over the inputs and outcomes.
On the family front, my son seems to be thriving. It brings me a lot of joy to see him doing so well and growing every day.
Technologically, I've been expanding my horizons. I’ve started learning Rust, and I'm also exploring Laravel with Inertia.js and Flutter for universal app development. My primary goal with all these frameworks and languages is to understand the technologies that will be most beneficial when interfacing and working alongside AI coding agents.
Speaking of AI, the advancement so far this year has honestly been a bit disappointing. I'm not even entirely sure they're going to completely solve the "coding" aspect of AI by the end of 2026. But counterintuitively, that's exactly why now is a great time to get into AI. It's still never too late. The hype cycle will naturally have its ups and downs, with tapering expectation periods surfacing here and there. But the absolute truth that won't change is that AI is not going anywhere.
Overall, I am feeling incredibly positive about the months ahead. My plan is simple: keep trying different things, continue learning new things, and stay relentlessly focused on my health.
