There is no reason to put up with unpleasant experiences if you can avoid it. I will put up with them if that’s required for my family and career. That’s about it.

Take spam calls. They’re unpleasant. iPhone doesn’t handle them well. But I stayed with the iPhone because of the ugly green fonts in mixed chats. No more. I recently switched to a Pixel phone and it’s been great.

If you use Google Fi on top of a Pixel like I do, the experience is even better. Google Fi filters out a lot of spam calls at the network level — they get dropped before they can even reach my phone. But if spammers are lucky enough to sneak through, Pixel’s AI forces them to talk to a real human on their end. That costs them time and money.

And if I block a number, the UI hides it way better than iPhone does. iPhone still shows a huge red dot even under unknown callers. On Pixel, blocked numbers are just gone. Out of sight.

Since I switched, I get far fewer spam calls. When some sneak in, I block them and I never see them again.

That’s how I’m going to live my life. Getting rid of unpleasant experiences — people, places, objects — as much as I can. And I can’t deny that having chatbots at my fingertips for guidance has been a godsend.
